“The Los Angeles International Auto Show doesn't always receive the attention it deserves. As the home of car culture in America, the LA Auto Show always brings out big crowds and plenty of world debuts from manufacturers curious to see what kind of response their latest creations generate. From its humble beginnings in an exhibition tent back in 1907, the Los Angeles Auto Show has grown to become one of the biggest new car shows in the country.”

So on a mid-morning trip to Los Angeles, we made it to the Auto Show. Aside from the usual crew, sans Lawrence, Andy and a couple of the Brillo’s cousins joined us. The original plan, again, was to leave early, but we didn’t because we had to wait for Andy. Anyway, we made it to the Show in decent time...so we thought. Compared to the OC Auto Show, which we previously went to, there was just too much to see at this Show. To properly see everything this Show has to offer would take two days to complete.

At the end of the day, we enjoyed a great meal at the Curry House and with a couple of unexpected pleasures on top of that. To this day, I still thank about it.

Orange County (CA) Autoshow 2008

Well, this is the first non-otaku event we've been to as a group. It was refreshing not having to deal with long-ass lines, non-bathing otaku and cosplayers (well, not really). But anyway, it was good.

My Saturday started out in class in the morning. The plan was to leave around noon for the car show. So after class, I headed to the Brillo brother's place, our usual meeting place, and leave from there. When I got there, we had to wait for a couple more people that were supposed to go with us. Our departure was delayed which I didn't mind because I had a rough Friday night. I was already falling asleep from exhaustion.

By two o'clock, the other people that were supposed to go with us bailed out so we waited for nothing. I really wanted to leave early, but oh well. So around two, we left and picked up Lawrence along the way. On the freeway, we missed the 91 junction, so we just went to the 57 junction to Anaheim. We were close to Frank's. Along the 60, in the Ontario area, we started to hit light rain and only to discover that Adrian's windshield wipers didn't work, or at least didn't work well. And by the time we were on the 57, the rain got to be real heavy and visibility was very low. Dude, I offered to buy new windshield wipers! I didn't want to die yet! Luckily the rain let up.

It was clear by the time we reached the Anaheim Convention Center. We parked and walked in. When we got our programs, we discovered that we missed the Laker Girls and the Tropicana Swimsuit Contest. Damn! That' what we get for waiting for loosers. It's not going to happen again if it can be helped. We have to stick to the original plan from now on. But anyway, it's was weird walking into the convention center and not seeing an Anime Expo exhibit hall and cosplayers. Also, on our way to dinner at the Jolly Roger, it was also weird walking out the convention center and not seeing the big Anime Expo banner or hundreds of cosplayers walking around. By the end of the day, we decided not to see the Sugar Ray concert.
